John Kleponis, CFA
John Kleponis serves as the Chief Investment Officer at Yosemite Capital Management. John leads the process of managing YCM’s model portfolios, which includes analysis of the economy and financial markets, tactical asset allocation, and security selection.
With a goal to be a good steward of the financial assets entrusted to his care and exceed the investment aspirations established by clients so they can live better lives, he brings a deliberate, analytical, and disciplined approach to managing wealth.
John understands that the keys to investment success include having a long term perspective, managing risk, embracing market volatility, avoiding emotional reactions to current events, and respecting the lessons of financial and economic history.
John has been in the investment management industry since 1992 following an earlier career as an engineer in the medical device and aerospace industries.
Passionate about what he does, John has taught several basic and advanced investment courses at the University of California at Irvine Extension and at Concordia University. He has also served as an expert witness in litigations involving asset allocation, portfolio construction, investment suitability, and the impact of trading on small cap stocks.
John has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, the Series 65 License, an MBA from Pepperdine University, a Certificate in Biomedical Engineering from the University of California at Irvine Extension, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University.
Among his civic involvements, John is a member of the CFA Institute in the Orange County chapter where he has served on the board of directors and on the Scholarship Foundation’s Investment Policy Committee. Within the community he has been involved in several non-profit organizations, including serving on the executive boards of the Foothill High School Lacrosse Booster Club and Tustin Eastern Little League.
John’s leisure activities include traveling, camping, hiking, bicycling, and playing games. Originally from Pennsylvania, John lives in Tustin with his wife and their two children.
